Hi there. I am Samadrita Kuiti, a PhD candidate (ABD) and graduate assistant in the English department and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program at the University of Connecticut. I am also a dedicated communications professional currently serving as the Graduate Communications Fellow for Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA). I am currently finishing up my interdisciplinary dissertation which theorizes on a politics of the future for gendered and queered subjects within postcolonial societies in Africa and South Asia. This book-length project spotlights an archive of fiction, short films, photojournalistic work, and commercials. My research & teaching interests overlap continuously and primarily reside at the intersections of postcolonial & utopian theories, gender & sexuality studies, & modern transnational literatures, particularly South Asian, African, and diasporic literatures. I also serve as the current President of NeMLA’s Graduate Student Caucus. To contact me please leave me a message through the contact form of this website or send me an email at samadrita.kuiti@uconn.edu
Fun fact about me: I am a computer science and engineer graduate who decided to pursue her true love – the humanities and English literature – later on in life despite facing significant hurdles along the way.
