Hi there. I am Samadrita Kuiti, a PhD candidate (ABD) and graduate assistant in the English department and the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program at the University of Connecticut. I am currently finishing up my interdisciplinary dissertation which theorizes on a politics of the future for gendered and queered subjects within postcolonial societies in Africa and South Asia. This book-length project spotlights an archive of fiction, short films, photojournalistic work, and commercials. My research & teaching interests overlap continuously and primarily reside at the intersections of postcolonial & utopian theories, gender & sexuality studies, & modern transnational literatures, particularly South Asian, African, and diasporic literatures. I also serve as the current Graduate Communications Fellow for the Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA) as well as the Interim VP of NeMLA’s Graduate Student Caucus. To contact me please leave me a message through the contact form of this website or send me an email at samadrita.kuiti@uconn.edu

Fun fact about me: I am a computer science and engineer graduate who decided to pursue her true love – the humanities and English literature – later on in life despite facing significant hurdles along the way.
